Each week for half an hour, the fifth grade students will join our class to read books together, practice yoga, practice mindfulness, etc... Each student will be paired up with a "buddy." Both the second graders, as well as the fifth graders, look forward to working with their buddies every week! |
How Full is Your Bucket?
If you hear your child asking you this, please ask them to share the meaning. We recently read a wonderful book which has this title. It uses the concepts of "filling someone's bucket" and "emptying someone's bucket" to reinforce about how it makes you feel when you say and do good things for others, as well as how someone can be hurt by other's words and actions. We have a chart in the classroom, in which each student has their own bucket and we take time to write kind words and compliments to fill each other's buckets. If your child is helpful, gives you an extra hug, or expresses gratitude, you might want to tell them "you just filled my bucket" and they might be surprised you know the terms we are trying to reinforce in class.
